April Update 2023

Lunch with our Spiritual Children!

Greetings in the Name of Jesus!

We pray that you are all being blessed by God in all that you do.  Annie and I are staying in this week as Thailand celebrates the famous Songkran Holiday or Thai New Year, also known as the water festival to many. It has been three years since Thailand has been able to celebrate because of Covid and this year they are going all out.  They even extended the Holiday a couple of days.  If I had to compare this holiday for people to understand, I guess it would be very close to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Over 100,000 people across the street from our home!

On the outside it looks like a lot of fun.  All day long there are roads closed so people can walk down the streets with vendors and bars everywhere. People throw water on each other by whatever means they can find. Super powered water guns, buckets hoses, anything they can find. Drinking of all sorts everywhere and concerts day and night. Tourists and Thais mingle together and it looks like the most fun thing to do in the world.

But behind the scenes, the Buddhist celebrations are going on, which for the most part looks good and moral. They respect the elderly in their families and come together for family fellowship as well. The goal on the last day is to worship and celebrate the Sea Serpent through many demonic ceremonies. So, the spiritual side is not so pretty or fun.

Hundreds will lose their lives and thousands will be injured through road accidents throughout Thailand.  Mostly from drunk driving and thousands of people on the roads.

This is why Annie and I either leave the country during this time or decide to stay home and hibernate until all the celebrations are finished and everyone goes back to work. So here we are waiting for another couple of days as I do this update. With all the concerts and loud music around us day and night. Thank God they usually slow down around midnight and we are able to get some sleep before morning. Amen?

Just before the holiday we were able to minister at the Lamp of Khon Kaen Church here in Khon Kaen. On the 2nd Annie preached and taught the service and God used her mightily. God is good! On the 9th of April, I was able to preach the Easter Service. I preached that our hope is in the Resurrection of Jesus. Praise God for the opportunity to minister while our spiritual children are out of the country. We enjoyed both Sundays and the fellowship with all the members. Praise God.

Praise God next week we will be out and ministering again at COTR Buriram Church. We are looking forward to being out and about again.

Please continue to pray for us!  We appreciate all your prayers and support that makes everything possible.  We always need prayer for our provision, protection and health. Thank you all in advance.

God bless all of you and we love y’all!

Ralph and Annie
